Split range Mike; then show the clubs. I think partner will know I have the "too strong" rather than weak one.

Definitely start with double since we could so easily belong in diamonds. Then 4NT since if I double again partner might pass and I'm not thrilled with that, we could too easily be making and they have a lot of shape at this vul.

A Michaels cue bid as a first move looks obvious, as you will have huge difficulties describing this hand otherwise. Follow with 5C.

I would bid 2♠. I think the odds that we belong in diamonds are low enough that I'm willing to risk never getting there to describe my hand well in one bid. I would double when 4♠ comes back to me.

That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

I chose x, 4NT, but I didn't quite read 2♠, 4NT or Double.

Yep. It only works with split range, I think. With wide range or decent hand plus it is different. On split range, the hand with just extra shape would be so bad it couldn't bid again for the five level.

Perfect hand for X and 4Nt. In my book X followed by 4Nt always show a 0535/0355/0553 since with a 0(445) i prefer to X 4S and with a 6430 i prefer to overcall. Only trouble hand is a normal strenght 0(445) at Mp where you want to compete but are too weak to X.

If you start with Michaels, you have to double on the second round. Even if you play split range.

A double as a first move looks obvious, as you will have huge difficulties showing your diamonds with a Michaels cuebid first. Follow with 4NT.

hijack: I'm wondering, would the doublers still double if we were playing specific two-suiters? I'm just asking because I have just started playing them and I don't know yet how to.

I know it's a good idea to double if you have 0355 and they opened 1S but that's a little different since it's an unbid major that we're implying by the double.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Whatever it shows, if you are trying to bring in your 3-card frag into the picture 4NT won't work. The double lets partner ask for the long minor via 4NT, but 4NT doesn't leave room.

So you're partner and you're 3244. What do you bid, 5♣? Does partner pass that when he's 0553?
