The bot's 3 looked like it was asking for a stopper for 3NT - which I did not have, so I bid 4. And the bot with its 13 HCP and good diamond support passed instead of bidding on. Turns out, we do not "just" have a game here, we actually make 6.

Hi,

the given seq. is problematic, it was common to play a GF in a minor auction only upto 3NT,
and if lacking a stopper to be able to check out in 4 of the minor.

The main problem with the robot auction is 3H, having stopper in their suit, stopping another
suit and having length in a 3rd it should bid 3NT, passing 4D is not the problem.

This is an behavior I usually get wrong, which leads me to play stupid contract on a reg. basis,
..., I wish I would know, what hand he has for bidding their suit.

With kind regards
Marlowe

This seems in blatant contradiction with smerriman's recent assertion that the only stopper GiB cares about to bid 3NT is the opponents' suit.

If this were about stoppers, there would be no contradiction here - I know you've said in Italy a takeout double is solely about the majors, but in GIB's system, it shows clubs as well. So all three are "opponents' suits" (suits they have shown some length in), resulting in 3NT being described as showing likely stoppers in all 3 of "their suits".

But it turns out there's no connection with stoppers here; the database tells GIB that if partner's last bid was a minor and it's able to cuebid at the 3 level or below, it should do so to show support and 25+ combined points. Which shouldn't be a problem for an advanced robot, as filling in the gaps for this type of situation is exactly what it was designed for - it should test 3 and 3NT and conclude that the latter will lead you to a better contract more often than not. Was this one? We still can't tell from the hand diagram :(
